ROUTES - TAP Air Portugal has confirmed plans to expand its network, including new long-haul routes to Orlando, Curitiba and Sao Luis do Maranhao

The carrier will launch a 3X-weekly Lisbon-Orlando service from Oct. 29, strengthening its North American network. In Brazil—its largest international market—TAP will mark 60 years of operations by adding Lisbon-Curitiba from July 2 (3X-weekly using Airbus A330-200s) and Lisbon-Sao Luis do Maranhao from Oct. 26 (2X-weekly using A321LRs). Frequencies to Porto Alegre and Florianopolis will also increase. CEO Luís Rodrigues says the airline will also expand its strategic focus on Porto. Under its “TAP with the North” plan, the airline will add Porto routes to Terceira, Praia and Tel Aviv, and make Porto-Boston year-round.

ROUTES - Jet2 announces expanded Summer programme for 2027 from London Gatwick

Jet2 has announced a significantly expanded Summer programme for 2027 from London Gatwick, just weeks before the company launches its first flights and holidays from its newest airport base.

For just its second summer of operations from London Gatwick, the UK’s favourite airline and tour operator has increased capacity by 27% in response to demand. This expanded programme has seen 35 sun and leisure city destinations, and a brand-new route to Lesvos (Mytilene), go on sale.

This expanded programme comes in response to strong demand from local holidaymakers, and with 1.1 million seats on sale, customers and independent travel agents across the region can enjoy huge choice when it comes to booking early and unlocking the sunshine for next summer.

This exciting new programme includes a brand-new and exclusive route to Lesvos (Mytilene). Jet2 will operate weekly Sunday services from 2nd May to 10th October 2027 to the stunning Greek island sitting in the heart of the Aegean. Packed with beauty, history and charm, Lesvos combines glorious beaches, bustling medieval streets, traditional Mediterranean villages and architectural treasures.

ROUTES - Azores Airlines will introduce a new service between Terceira and Madeira in its 2026 summer schedule, expanding connectivity between the two Portuguese archipelagos

The route is scheduled to begin on May 7th, with weekly flights on Thursdays, increasing to twice a week between June and September during the high season. At the peak of summer, a frequency will be added on Mondays, with return flights the following day. The new nonstop route complements existing services via Ponta Delgada and will increase Azores Airlines' total offering at the peak of summer to 12 weekly frequencies between the Azores and Madeira. The Lajes-Funchal route follows an update to Portugal's public service obligations, which now include a direct connection under the regulated air services regime between the two island regions.

American Airlines plans to add a new route to Portugal to its transatlantic network in summer 2027, using the Airbus A321XLR 

The carrier said it intends to launch daily, summer-seasonal service between Philadelphia International Airport and Porto Airport, subject to government approval. 

Porto will become American’s second destination in Portugal, complementing its year-round Philadelphia-Lisbon service. According to OAG Schedules Analyser data, the Oneworld alliance member currently serves Lisbon daily using Boeing 787-8 aircraft, switching to 787-9s at the start of March.

Porto will become American’s 19th summer-season European destination served from Philadelphia, joining Budapest and Prague, which will resume in May. The airline last served the two Central European cities in summer 2019.

United Airlines prolonga serviço sazonal entre o Porto e Nova Iorque/ Newark em 2026

A United Airlines prolongou o seu serviço sazonal diário do Porto para Nova Iorque/Newark em 2026, começando mais de um mês antes, a 22 de fevereiro, e oferecendo um aumento de quase 10% nos lugares disponíveis para o verão de 2026 em comparação com 2025. Com dois voos diários durante o pico de verão, o serviço da United a partir do Porto tem prevista a operação até 30 de novembro de 2026.

O prolongamento do serviço sazonal a partir do Porto soma-se aos voos existentes da United durante todo o ano de Lisboa para Nova Iorque/Newark, serviço quase durante todo o ano de Lisboa para Washington D.C., bem como serviços sazonais de Faro, Ponta Delgada, Açores e Madeira para Nova Iorque/Newark. Para o verão de 2026, a United irá operar até seis serviços diários diretos de Portugal para os EUA, oferecendo mais voos entre Portugal e os Estados Unidos do que qualquer outra companhia aérea dos EUA.

No verão de 2026, a United será a única companhia aérea dos EUA a lançar voos diretos para quatro novos destinos a partir do seu hub em Nova Iorque/Newark para Split, Croácia; Bari, Itália; Glasgow, Escócia e Santiago de Compostela, Espanha.
